Before you can start any fertility treatment, you need to have first completed a fertility assessment.
Your fertility assessments will give you and our fertility experts a better understanding of your fertility health and how your body may respond to treatment.
You don’t need to have seen a GP or have been referred to book an assessment with us. It takes just one or two visits to our clinic to complete all the necessary investigations and have a consultation with one of our specialists.
Most importantly, after your fertility test, you’ll be given the appropriate advice and have the chance to ask questions about potential next steps.
The right tests for you will depend on your personal circumstances and health struggles. That’s why we use a variety of fertility assessments to identify what may be causing your fertility trouble.
Here's what you can expect at your fertility assessment:

Firstly, you’ll need to complete a medical questionnaire that includes your:
BMI
Blood pressure
Lifestyle evaluation
Depending on the outcomes, we’ll arrange for some tests to be carried out.
Our fertility experts will design your fertility assessment package to suit your personal circumstances and health concerns.
Together, these tests give an accurate measure of your fertility and likely your response to any medication.
These tests include:

The AMH blood test assesses your ovarian reserve by checking your levels of the anti-Mullerian hormone, a hormone produced by cells in the ovary.
This enables us to assess your potential reaction to stimulating drugs as well as predict how many eggs we might be able to collect during treatment.
The AFC scan is a pelvic ultrasound examination to assess your uterus and check for any abnormalities.
We will also assess your ovaries for their volume - ovaries tend to decrease in size in the time before menopause and smaller ovaries have been linked to a poor response to stimulating drugs – as well as the number of antral follicles.
It’s important to know that your ovarian antral follicle count (AFC) declines as you age.

We’ll aim for your blood test and scan to be carried out on the same day for your convenience.
You may also require other tests to check your levels of:
Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)
Luteinizing hormone (LH)
Progesterone

After your fertility tests, we will book you in for a consultation the following week. In this consultation, we will talk you through your results and recommend and explain any treatment options that may benefit you.
Of course, there is no obligation to go ahead with treatment following your consultation.
The cost of the female fertility test is £485 and includes the AFC trans-vaginal scan, AMH blood test and consultation.

We know a diagnosis for unexplained infertility can be upsetting and frustrating.
However, many individuals and couples with unexplained infertility do go on to conceive naturally and there are treatments we can recommend to improve your chances of conception. This diagnosis does not mean the end of your fertility journey.
