What might you need support with?

Exploring ways to become a parent can be the most exciting of journeys.

But it’s not without challenges, and as an LGBTQ+ person, you might have extra things to consider.

For example:

  • Who should be the birthing parent

  • How to choose a sperm or egg donor or surrogate, and navigating ethical and legal aspects

  • Considering pausing or delaying gender-affirming care to preserve fertility or commence treatment

  • Encountering a lack of awareness or misunderstandings about LGBTQ+ parenthood and fertility treatment

  • Challenges finding LGBTQ+ informed care providers

  • Lack of information tailored to you

Whatever you’re experiencing, know that you’re not alone in this.

There are dedicated resources, services and organisations there to help – whether that’s processing feelings or getting professional advice.

Our counselling services

We recognise fertility treatment isn’t just a physical journey - it’s an emotional one too.

Professional emotional support is an important part of our care, and we have counselling in place during your treatment with us.

Our counsellors are accredited and registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Infertility Counsellors Association (BICA).

Many of our counsellors have additional training in therapies such as EMDR and CBT.

It's important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor, where possible, you may be able to change counsellors if needed. This will depend on which clinic you're receiving treatment.

TFP Fertility is also proud to be an official Pride Events Business Supporter.
